The Atonement

It was ages ago since I’ve seen the Atonement and I am still in love with this absolutely stunning emerald green dress. It is just beyond gorgeous and goes beautifully with Keira’s dark hair and pale skin.

Wedding a la vintage

Everyone loves a bit of vintage these days… and there is something so charming and innocent about 50s. Even though I do believe that the film and advertising industry seems to idealise that particular era represented by the image of the happy families living in the suburbs with these perfectly manicured greener than green lawns. It is the time before this lifestyle was questioned and destroyed the myth of the sugar-coated family unit revealing alcoholism, depression, questionable sexual orientation, affairs and misogyny hiding behind the wholesome facade.

Still you have to love the whole idea behind the 50s after all that time seems to fill us with nostalgia even if we know deep inside that the idea of it is somehow spoiled or fake. Anyway I’m really digressing now from just saying that I am getting married and recently I went with my friend to try and some wedding dresses. The one that really stood out for me was the 50s style three quarter length dress which was very cute very Audrey Hepburn a la Breakfast at Tiffany just stunning. The process of looking for wedding dresses is quite daunting really so I chose to go with my friend Amy as she is so cool about weddings I knew she would make it easy for me. Once you stood there in the shop in this white frock with a veil and flowers… well its scary. You suddenly realise that everyone is going to look at you as you walk down the aisle and god I do hope I won’t trip and fall I hope I won’t drop my flowers or say something inappropriate or start laughing uncontrollably. Its scary to think there is so many things that could go wrong! Deep inside I know that everything will go well. Everything always is and I believe in the power of positive thinking but I’m also realistic in expecting that it will be a very intense experience and its up to me to make it positively intense.

Chilling out in Amsterdam

I absolutely loved my time in Amsterdam. We hired some bikes and went around everywhere cycling which was so cool. I must admit, work and stuff has been just crazy stressed recently so I really needed to spend some quality time with my boyfriend and Amsterdam seemed like just the place for it. It is such a chilled out and cool city! I mean the way everyone seem to get on with one another is just so nice to see that. Coming from a place where some people get totally stressed out about little things such as whether you’ve parked your car slightly on ‘their’ side of pavement or would deliberately block your drive with your waste bin because you have not taken it in until a shocking 6.30pm (yes I have great neighbours who are very sad sad people). Its so refreshing to be in a place where people don’t have a panic attack and start hyperventilating when they are driving behind someone like me struggling on a tiny little bike still trying to get used to the whole right side of the street plus all these trams and a road system.

Needless to say I loved our little trip and thought that all Dutch people are very very fit. Both girls and boys are so tall and model gorgeous it makes you feel a bit inadequate but they’re so nice too. I’m not kidding I have only seen very good looking people over there, every girl looks like either Doutzen or Freja and every boy looks like one of the Monaco’s young royals. It was a feast for eyes to see all these beautiful people.

Some more pictures coming soon!

Let it rain

Here is a new collection of beautiful coats from Aquascutum… I love the floor length camel coat its just divine. As the weather is neither warm not cold, there is really not a lot you can wear. Its sort of too cold for a summery dress but too warm for trousers. I think I would actually prefer for it to just be autumn at least I could wear my new nice Mac or the aviator style jacket with some of those new trousers that are so huge this season. Me and my friends Debra actually started planning for what outfits we are going to be wearing this autumn… its a bit sad I know, but it really does feel like dressing for work is a major task these days. For example this morning it was a beautiful and sunny weather and 20 degrees so I decided to wear a skirt with some peep toe heels but by the time I was coming back from work, it was pouring rain and only 14 degrees. You literally have to have a change of clothes prepared just in case the weather changes drastically during the day.

By the way I’m off to Amsterdam on Saturday! Yey!

In love with Love

You’ve got to love the new to UK market publication Love magazine by Conde Nast. They have amazing covers with some of the most interesting and creative stylisations. From the top: Sienna, Gisele, Rosie and Alessandra… They always try to surprise with creating completely different looks for models and celebrities. I actually had to look very closely to recognise them and even then you’re like is it really?

For example Sienna, I still can’t believe its her she looks very vampy, Alessandra with dyed eyebrows is unrecognisable and Rosie looks like one of those Benefit pin up girls… Gisele is as always gorgeous and probably looks like herself the most.

The love magazine is definitely pretty cool and I first noticed it after they did that famous campaign with naked models … it was the work of art with some of the most iconic faces of the last decade century such as Lara Stone and Kate Moss and Natalia Vodianova.

Enjoy!

Some pictures from a day out in Greenwich, I loved the planetarium which was so cool. I think science especially when it comes to astronomy is very very interesting, this is definitely the place to be if you’re into those sort of things. I’m wearing a really comfortable lovely little dress that I got at the Camden Town market with this lovely little belt and my favourite flats.

The Goddess

Here are some pictures of the most stunning girl in the world and an absolute goddess Raquel Zimmermann in Autumn/Winter campaigns for Chloe and Gucci. When I actually saw her in the September Issue documentary I couldn’t believe that she looked even better in real life then on photographs. Just stunning!

Rocking this boho chic outfit in Camden Town on a lovely and warm day out in London. Its been absolutely stunning to be enjoying chilling by the canal all day. I obviously loved the markets and managed to pick up a few bits and pieces over there. I would have loved to have more time to spend there… :( but I’m already planning a trip over some time in September.

Had an interesting day today, went to get a few pairs of shoes re-heeled at Timpsons and you wouldn’t believe how expensive it is! I mean it’s like £9.5 for a metal tip of a heel and as I had 5 pairs of shoes it would work out almost £50 this is ridiculous! I think that its steep for anybody and I’m quite annoyed that in the times of recession Timpsons would charge an extortionate rates like this. I got so annoyed I actually decided I would need to rather not get them done at all. I’m now trying to look for some cheaper alternatives including learning the trade or something. I don’t know!

Here are some pictures from the London trip I took in July to celebrate handing in my dissertation. I had an absolutely fabulous time there… I enjoyed Camden Town markets that are great for vintage clothes and jewellery went shopping on Oxford Street which really wasn’t that great as its busy to the point when its ridiculous.

Last weekend its been the most glorious weather… so I decided to pack a picnic and go for a little trip out into the countryside. Obviously even a trip like that requires a nice outfit. Here I’m wearing this new blouse from Zara, which I absolutely adore it has a little frill on the front and really cool shirt like sleeves.I worn it with these ripped Topshop jeans and a pair of quilted beige flats which in my opinion look very chic combined with the black and white stripy jacket.

Next Saturday I’m going away to Amsterdam for a weekend, I’ve never been to Holland so I really can’t wait! I’m hoping to chill out and do some shopping and sightseeing.
